Our Philosophy
Here at Little Nest, our dedicated kaiako are committed to providing a place where every child and their whānau feel safe, loved, and have a deep sense of belonging.
Our Kaiako believe in building secure, respectful, responsive, and reciprocal relationships with all our tamariki and whānau. We view each child individually and holistically, valuing each tamariki’s individual needs, ensuring they are placed at the heart of everything we do.
LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL
We are inspired by the RIE and Reggio Emilia Philosophy. These philosophies, along with the principles of Te Whāriki, underpin our respectful, peaceful, and unhurried approach to our daily practice. We value an environment that is a home away from home, inspiring curiosity and encouraging exploration through play-based learning and inquiry. We view our tamariki as capable and competent learners, encouraging them to learn through experiences and participation, allowing them to take risks, try new things, and problem-solve.
AN EMOTIONALLY SATISFIED CHILD WILL ENGAGE IN PLAY
We celebrate and recognise both the bicultural and multicultural diversity of our centre and our wider community. We acknowledge the partnership of Te Tiriti o Waitangi; Te Reo and Tikanga are respectfully interwoven throughout our curriculum. When our tamariki leave Little Nest, we would like them to move forward with a love for learning, a sense of pride and confidence, an understanding of boundaries (but with freedom to explore), a positive contribution to society, and a respect for all others and cultures.
